We work from a clear principle: unless a young person feels emotionally secure, they are far less likely to make progress personally, socially or in their education. Therapeutic care at Ascende is therefore part of everyday life, not a weekly appointment in isolation.
Our care staff are trained to understand trauma, attachment and the behaviours that can follow early adversity, and apply positive behaviour support consistently. They are supported by a clinical team — led at director level by an accredited counsellor — providing supervision, reflective practice and direct intervention.
Young people can access a range of therapeutic input, matched to assessed need and delivered by experienced practitioners.
Formulation and guidance that helps the team understand each child's needs and respond consistently.
A safe, structured space for young people to process their experiences at their own pace.
Approaches that meet children where words are not yet enough.
Evidence-based strategies to understand behaviour and build emotional regulation.
Reflective practice and coaching so the whole team responds with confidence and consistency.
Joined-up working with CAMHS, health and education services as required.
We build a picture of each child's history, strengths and needs before and as they arrive.
A therapeutic care plan is agreed with the young person's network, with clear, realistic goals.
The plan is delivered through everyday relationships, routines and targeted therapeutic input.
Progress is reviewed regularly with the child and their network, and the plan adapts as they grow.
